New Manchester Walks will for the first time be able to take you round Britain’s biggest graveyard – Southern Cemetery – final resting place of some the greats of Manchester history.
Ed Glinert, author of “London’s Dead”, published by HarperCollins, will lead you from Matt Busby to John Rylands; from Joe Sunlight (legendary architect and playboy) to Charles Sacré, railway chief who killed himself after the Penistone disaster of 1884. We will also pay our respects to music greats Tony Wilson and Rob Gretton, go in search of L. S. Lowry and reveal the long-lost story of the forgotten victim of the Munich Air Disaster.
* Sun 29 March 2015.
* Meet 11am by the Cemetery Gates on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, opposite James Hilton Memorials at No. 245 Barlow Moor Road.
