Next tour: We’re doing Chapel Street (with a bit of The Crescent) on Wed 2 August.
Meet: Victoria Station wallmap, 11am.
Chapel Street has been bished, bashed and battered something rotten by the council and developers over the last fifty years but there are signs that it is fighting back.
As for The Crescent, here can be found elegant Georgian grandeur and picturesque parkland washed by the River Irwell at the posh end of the heartland of old Salford.
Here, on and around, the gracious Crescent can be found Britain’s first municipal library, the art gallery where L. S. Lowry’s work was first displayed and the remarkable Working Class Movement building.
