The streets of Manchester are awash with football, not just trophies, fans and players, but living, kicking football history: Manchester United being rescued from bankruptcy by a St Bernard dog(!); Jimmy Savile and his nightclub cronies huddled round a radio having cancelled their event on Munich night; the players union leading a strike threat from their Manchester HQ in 1961 – and that’s apart from all George Best’s bars and boutiques.
To celebrate the opening of the National Football Museum New Manchester Walks’ nippiest wing backs will be leading a sortie through the packed midfield that is Manchester’s football history. We will finish in Fergie time.
