The Women of Peterloo

They are the forgotten force behind those caught up in the infamous Peterloo Massacre of 1819. The women.

They gathered in meeting halls and implored the radical men to represent the whole community.

Their leader was Mary Fildes, head of the Manchester Female Reform Group, who was singled out by the military for execution that fateful day, 16 August 1819.

We will walk in their footsteps.
